Artist of The Month

Barb Rydz Ross was born in Belgium to Polish immigrant parents who were concentration camp survivors. Over the years, she has lived in various cities, including New York, London, Hong Kong, and locations in Germany.

After a successful 23-year career in Human Resources and single-handedly raising three children, she rekindled her passion for painting and pursued art studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois. There, she earned Certificates in Drawing and Painting.

Ross has exhibited her work in Chicago at the Merchandise Mart and in New York City at the Jacob Javits Center. Her artwork is also featured on the website of Xanadu Gallery. Three of her larger acrylic paintings are permanently displayed in the lobby of One Arlington Plaza in Arlington Heights, Illinois, with additional pieces adorning various areas of the building.

Notably, North Light Books featured one of her collage paintings in its 2014 publication Incite 2: Color Passions – The Best of Mixed Media. Her painting Green Forest was selected for publication in The Best of Acrylic: 102 Winning Works by Artists Magazine. In 2022, her painting Celestial Paradise was chosen for a city exhibition titled Zip Us Up at the Birmingham, Michigan Public Library.
