Let’s Catch Up!

May unfolds at an easy rhythm at Arts & Central! On May 17th at 5 PM, join us for an artist and poet evening with poet Rodrigo Mendoza-Cortissoz and poets April Bourne and Monika Hetzler. An intimate experience of work, words, and presence. Other highlights this month include Cinco de Mayo Specials, a Mother’s Day brunch, and plenty of live music throughout!

Mother’s Day Brunch

Mother’s Day Brunch at Arts & Central takes place May 10th from 10 AM–4 PM, featuring live music by Jaime Tremps starting at 10:30 AM, alongside a selection of special dishes created for the occasion and our full brunch menu.

May Artist and Poets of the Month

Join us Sunday, May 17th at 5 PM as we welcome featured artist Rodrigo Mendoza-Cortissoz, alongside poets April Bourne and Monika Hetzler.

Meet the artists, experience Rodrigo’s work woven throughout our menus and space, and enjoy a dinner where art is part of the evening.

Rodrigo Mendoza-Cortissoz: Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, Rodrigo has called Sarasota home for the past 15 years. His work draws from the vibrant parallels of the greater Caribbean basin and the layered history of Florida, expressed through bold drawing, a lush tropical palette, and a seamless blend of U.S. and Hispanic influences.

April Bourne: April is a retired cybersecurity professional and lifelong poet who has been writing since the age of 16.

Monika Hetzler: Monika creates collage-filled zines and leads poetry and storytelling open mics throughout the city.

Sips & Sliders: Weekends are for sliders. Join us every Saturday from 11 AM–4 PM and enjoy your choice of a slider and a drink for $18—easy, satisfying, and your new go-to lunch plan.
